Hondata has announced the release of their FlashPro tuning application for drive by wire Honda S2000’s. In short, this is huge! S2000 owners can now enjoy tuning and datalogging with much greater ease than ever before.

ARP Main Stud Kit for Mitsubishi Evo X

ARP is well know for their bolts, its considered a staple if you intend on bulletproofing your motor. The majority of race teams use their product due to their level of effectiveness beyond the factory limits. They have released their main stud kit for Mitsubishi’s Evolution X.

“Part No. 207-5403 – includes a set of ten, M10 ARP2000 main studs, a set of ten, M8 ARP2000 main studs, twenty 8740 chromemoly steel 12 pt nuts and a 1/2 oz. pack of ARP Ultra-Torque fastener assembly lubricant.

All Pro Series ARP2000 studs are centerless ground, heat treated prior to thread rolling and machining, and are nominally rated at 220,000 psi. These fasteners deliver a 50% increase in tensile strength over the OEM main bolts.”

There really doesn’t seem to be a shortage of carbon fiber parts for Nissan’s GT-R. What would make a pair of  carbon fiber fenders different from any other pair or even worth looking at twice? Super engine builder and so much more, Cosworth, has announced the release of their engine mangement solution for Mitsubishi’s Evo X. This will be well welcomed to those looking for alternative methods of tuning their Evo X.

Cosworth has provided the following list of features regarding EC Pro.

  • On the 2008+ Mitsubishi Evo X, the addition of a Pi Research lap beacon enables the advanced user to build track maps in the Pi Toolbox software (supplied with EC Pro) for advanced analysis of driver and vehicle performance.
  • Designed for full OEM harness and system integration Plug and Perform. Base calibration supplied to run a stock engine. There is no need for replacement of OEM wiring harness or sensors. Makes use of OEM dash and controls.
  • 56Mhz processor. Higher performance timing accuracy and control Ethernet comms Fast data offload and high quality data viewing on PC
  • Internal logging memory. Pre configured logging channel configuration at optimum rates for performance analysis by your dealer. User can define specific logging configurations . 4mb on board internal memory and up to 2,000Hz of logging bandwidth is standard.
  • Knock monitoring and Control. Advanced knock processing chip offers industry leading advanced knock signal filtration and signal processing. OEM MIL lamp indication of Detonation levels (with user defined levels based on RPM and Boost).
  • Calibration select. (e.g. Fuel save, Test, Race) Use of the OEM switches for selection of 3 alternate calibrations (calibration selectable for boost, fuelling, ignition,rev limit, ALS setting, VCAM target, Fly-By-Wire pedal mapping, and overrun fueling cut-off per calibration setting).
  • Pectel ALS (Anti Lag System) OEM switch (e.g. cruise control button) used for ALS mode select .
  • Analog Inputs for external sensors. Additional pressure transducers, temperature sensors, and digital inputs can be wired into the EC Pro for logging additional engine parameters and/or additional control strategies. The number of analog inputs depends on the specific model.
  • Closed Loop Boost Control. Full closed loop or open loop boost control via PID parameters and solenoid duty cycle map. Closed loop boost levels are also selectable via calibration select (see above).
  • Standard Motorsport Design. Machined billet aluminum case and professional motorsport s specification electronics.
  • OEM Narrow Band Supported Can be disabled by user.

  • External Wideband Supported. Compatible with all wideband units with 0-5v analog output.
  • Internal Wideband Supported. WBL kit – Requires Cosworth by Pectel NTK sensor, requires 3 extra populations and 2 pin relocating. blank pins on OEM harness populating.
  • Variable CAM. Pre-configured full camshaft support

  • External Comms Support. Optional Motorsport dash and center differential controller.

Akrapovic Evolution Titanium Exhaust for Nissan GT-R

Akrapovic is probably better know for their exhaust products for motorcycles, but we have been seeing a lot from them as of late in relationship to cars. Their latest is definitely welcomed. Akrapovic’s Evolution Titanium Exhaust for Nissan’s GTR sheds a huge 17.3kg from the original exhaust equipped from the manufacturer. The 14.3kg exhaust has shown gains of  17hp @ 6260RPM and  torque increase of 56.1 Nm @ 2600RPM (41.4 lb/ft) during their testing.

Stock clutch packs are able to effectively function within a certain range of torque from the factory, Limey Racing has taken clutch packs to the next level. Limey Racing’s LR850 upgraded clutch packs are rated  at 800 ft/lbs.

When it comes to ‘necessity being the mother of all invention” spoon knows it all too well. Their latest for the S2000 is genius, the subframe kit is a piece that has you questioning why it wasn’t created earlier.

Rather than bolting the cars front and rear subframes directly on the chassis, Spoon has created collared sleeves that are used to minimize lateral subframe movements. Spoon states that the increased stiffness would be very similar to using a roll cage.
